President receives Russian, Japanese ambassadors

(VOVworld) – President Tran Dai Quang received Russian ambassador to Vietnam Konstantine Vnukov in Hanoi on Tuesday. He said in addition to politics, economics, and culture, the two countries should boost their cooperation in oil and gas and nuclear electricity. He said he hopes the Russian government will soon ratify the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union FTA and pledged to boost cooperation in national defense and security and coordination at regional and global forums.

Ambassador Vunukov said countries involved have worked closely together to quickly implement the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union FTA, which will promote economic cooperation between the two countries and regions.

The same day, President Quang received Japanese ambassador Hiroshi Fukada. He shared the losses of the Japanese government and people caused by the recent earthquake in Kumamoto. He said he hopes Japan will continue its ODA for Vietnam and help Vietnam in responding to climate change. Ambassador Fukada invited Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to attend the upcoming G7 summit in Japan.

He said the two countries should work more closely with other countries in the East Sea issue at global forums and ASEAN. He said Japan calls on countries to refrain from actions that may complicate the situation, respect and abide by international law. He added that Japan is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the East Sea issue and national defense and security.
