President Tran Dai Quang holds talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani

(VOVworld)- On Thursday, President Tran Dai Quang held talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Hanoi after a welcoming ceremony. At the talks, the two leaders agreed on the need to strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels and promote the current cooperative mechanisms including the inter-governmental committee and political consultations. The Iranian President said that Iran treasured its ties with Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries.

The two leaders agreed to facilitate their enterprises to seek investment opportunities. Iran wanted to invest in Vietnam in petro-chemical refinery, thermal power, infrastructure, pharmaceutical production, agriculture and aquaculture. They discussed ways to increase Vietnam’s rice export to Iran. President Tran Dai Quang asked Iran to facilitate Vietnamese enterprises including Viettel, VNPT, and FPT to do business in Iran.

They discussed methods to boost cooperation in national defense, security, agriculture, education, training, science, technology, culture and tourism and cooperation between their localities. They agreed to organize the 9th session of the Vietnam-Iran Inter-governmental committee in Iran.

After the talks, the two Presidents held a joint press conference where they discussed bilateral ties and ways to tighten political relations and expand cooperation in economics, culture, science and technology. They also witnessed the signing of an agreement on visa exemptions for Vietnamese and Iranian official passport holders and a MOU on cooperation in information and communications.
