In his address, President Sang praised the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Initiative, the US-ASEAN Business Council and the Vietnamese Embassy in the US for organizing this event which he said would increase mutual understanding and create cooperation opportunities between the two countries’ businesses. Sang said:“Economic, trade and investment cooperation is a focus, foundation and motivation for development of bilateral ties. The US is currently Vietnam’s leading trade partner. Over the past 20 years, bilateral trade has increased 90 folds from 400 million USD in 1993 to 36.3 billion USD in 2014. These achievements are attributed to great contributions by the two countries’ businesses”.

President Sang promised to take further measures to facilitate trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. He said Vietnamese leaders will maintain regular dialogues with US businesses and hope that the US administration will not apply trade barriers against Vietanmese goods and soon conclude the TPP agreement negotiation: Vietnam respects the TPP- a potential economic link in the Asia Pacific region. Vietnam is determined to work with the US and other member countries to complete negotiations as scheduled based on balancing interests between member countries and diversity of development levels of each country. Vietnam is a member of a number of economic cooperation mechanisms in the region. With a market of 90 million people and being a member of the ASEAN Community with more than 600 million people, Vietnam continues to be an attractive investment destination. I believe that the US will become a number one investor in Vietnam in the near future and this will contribute to boosting regional connectivity and Vietnam’s international economic integration to a new height”.
