(VOVworld)- On Sunday, President Truong Tan Sang met with overseas Vietnamese, Vietnamese students and diplomats in the US, and American friends. He called on them to be united and contribute further to the homeland.

Sang said he hoped American people would further support the Vietnam- US Comprehensive Partnership. Sang said:“Settling sovereignty disputes in the East Sea is one of the most serious challenges of peace, stability and development in Southeast Asia and the Asia Pacific region, particularly China’s construction of artificial islands in the East Sea which violates international law. The Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea is causing concerns among various countries. The Vietnamese Party, State and people are resolute and determined to defend national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, maintain peace, stability and peacefully settle disputes in accordance with international law including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and soon-finalized Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea. Vietnam hopes that overseas Vietnamese and American friends would support Vietnam”.
