(VOVworld)- President Truong Tan Sang inspected the northern border, and visited soldiers and local people in Ha Giang province on Sunday and Monday. The President also paid a New Year visit to ethnic minority people in Lung Cu commune.

President Truong Tan Sang visits Niem Tong commune

Speaking at a meeting with Niem Tong commune in Meo Vac district, Sang stressed the importance of national target programs which are being implemented in Ha Giang province. He emphasized the need to tap local potential to enable the province to change from self-sufficiency to commercial production: “Meo Vac is strong in maize plantation and cow raising. So, the commune needs to draw on its strength. For example, Chinese people can produce high-yield maize, so we can learn from them. Only by intensive farming, can we raise our living conditions”.

President Sang visits Dong Van border guard station

In the Viet Lam border commune, President Sang praised the unity between authorities and local people in implementing the new rural development program. He asked commune officials to pay more attention to social beneficiaries and the poor, and to assist them to develop production. The same day, the President visited the Thanh Thuy border economic zone and Dong Van border guard station. On the occasion of the lunar new year, the President presented 300 gifts and 200 blankets for local social beneficiaries and the poor.
