The CIGB, a leading biotechnology center, has successfully produced Abdala and four other COVID-19 vaccines.

At the center, President Phuc witnessed the signing of an agreement between CIGB and the Vietnamese Ministry of Health’s Center for Research and Production of Vaccines and Biologicals (POLYVAC) to purchase 5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from Cuba. Deals were also signed to transfer Cuba’s COVID-19 vaccine production technology to Vietnam.

"During this visit, I’ve witnessed signing of several agreements between Vietnam and Cuba on politics, diplomacy, socio-economics, and healthcare," said Mr. Phuc.
"We share a strong belief in our relationship. I wish the Party, State, and people of Cuba more success on their path towards socialism. I believe that Cuban people will overcome difficulties and make progress in the coming time."
