Earlier, Prime Minister Dung met privately with Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Hun Sen as soon as he arrived in Phnom Penh. The PMs said they are pleased with how their friendship has blossomed and the way their two countries have cooperated in the recent past. They agreed to boost bilateral links in economics, trade, and investment, and jointly organize the third Vietnam-Cambodia Investment Promotion Conference, to be held in Vietnam this June. Regarding border demarcation and marker planting, the leaders agreed to continue implementing previously reached agreements and focus on smoothing over any difficulties to speed up the completion of this work. Dung said Vietnam supports this year’s theme of “ASEAN: one community, one destiny”, and said he is confident Cambodia will do a good job hosting the ASEAN Summit and fulfill their obligations as ASEAN Chair.
