Prime Minister holds talk with Chinese Party leader, President

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has reiterated that the Vietnamese Party and government treasure the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China.

At a meeting with Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping in Da Nang on Saturday, Prime Minister Phuc underlined Vietnam’s consistent policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, development, and diversification and multilateralization of international relations. He called on the Chinese leader to continue working on developing the Vietnam-China relationship for more practical results and for the people’s benefits. Mr. Phuc asked both sides to persistently settle disputes through peaceful means in line with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.  He called on both sides to strictly abide by agreements reached by senior leaders, control differences, refrain from complicating the disputes, and maintain peace and stability in the East Sea.

Party General Secretary and President Xi congratulated Vietnam for successful hosting of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week. He extended his sympathy to the Party, government, and local people who have suffered losses caused by natural disasters and announced the Chinese government’s relief worth 10 million Yuan. The Chinese leader said that China treasures the neighborly, cooperative ties with Vietnam.
