Prime Minister meets with Vietnamese community in Singapore

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Vietnamese government delegation arrived in Singapore on Saturday to attend a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s Independence Day. On Sunday, Prime Minister Dung attended a round-table discussion with leading Singaporean businesses held by the Singapore Business Federation.

He congratulated the Singapore Business Federation for its contributions to Singapore’s prosperity and development and said that the Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership has progressed in a number of areas, particularly economics, trade, and investment. He said that the Vietnamese government always welcomes and will continue to create favorable conditions for Singaporean businesses to make long-term investments in Vietnam. Prime Minister Dung appreciated Singaporean businesses’ good will and hope to invest in Vietnam in logistics, real estate, hospitality, industrial parks, and maritime transportation, stressing that cooperation potential in such areas is huge in the context of Vietnam’s international integration and the ASEAN Community to be established by the end of the year.

Prime Minister Dung also received leaders of a number of leading Singaporean groups such as Sembcorp, Ascendas, and Banyan Tree.

Earlier, on Saturday he met with the Vietnamese embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Singapore. He reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of considering overseas Vietnamese an integral part of the nation and creating favorable conditions for them to stabilize their lives and business. He asked the embassy to continue to support the Vietnamese community in Singapore and fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and state.
