Prime Minister urges for stronger measures to fight COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged for stronger measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure socio-economic activities and the upcoming election.

At an urgent meeting on Sunday with southwestern provinces to discuss COVID-19 Prevention and Control, the Prime Minister asked localities and agencies to implement stronger and more effective measures to fight the disease, maintain political security and social order, stay vigilant, early detect infection cases, conduct large-scale testing, quickly trace contacts with infection cases for prompt quanratine, actively treat patients, and strictly manage post-treated cases, effectively deal with outbreaks, overcome consequences, and boots socio-economic development.

He asked relevant agencies to tighten management of entries and strictly deal with illegal entries, traffickers and illegal trade. He said it’s important to get prepared for a scenario of 30,000 infections nationwide. The Ministry of Health is asked to accelerate import and production of vaccines and strengthen communications about vaccination.

The Prime Minister asked localities to prepare carefully to make the upcoming election a success and stabilize production and people’s lives.
