At a meeting with key local leaders in Hanoi on Wednesday, Phuc also called on An Giang to turn tourism centering on Ba Chua Xu spiritual complex into a spearhead economic sector, which should account for 10% of the provincial economic structure. He asked for efforts to develop border trade and tourism.

On the same day, the Prime Minister worked with Lao Cai leaders on upgrading Sa Pa national tourist site to international level. He said: “I agree in principle to elevate Sa Pa from district status to a town so that the Sa Pa tourist site can become an international attraction. Culture of local ethnic groups should be preserved.”
