(VOVworld) - Russian President Vladimir Putin asked security officers to pay the most serious attention to high-profile crimes, including those with a political subtext, at a Wednesday meeting with officials from the Interior Ministry.
He called for more efforts so that Russia doesn’t have to endure such tragedies as Nemtsov’s assassination in the city’s center. Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said the killing was a "provocation" which was previously planned. The same day, Alexander Bortnikov, director of Russia's Federal Security Service, said that an investigation has identified several suspects, without giving details. Investigators are seeking a car in connection with the killing, which is assumed to be a Ford, seen on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge at the time of the assassination.
