(VOVworld) – Pak Pong-ju, Prime Minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, has called for better ties with the Republic of Korea. In a speech marking the 66th founding anniversary of North Korea, Pak said his country will do its best to improve North-South relations.

Pyongyang warned earlier that its ties with Seoul won't improve unless the US withdraws its troops from South Korea. About 28,500 American troops are stationed in South Korea to help deter possible military aggression by the North. Pak's comments came a week after South Korean President Park Geun-hye urged North Korea to come forward for talks with Seoul to try to improve bilateral relations which have plunged to the lowest point in years.
