Qatar demands blockade be lifted before Gulf crisis talks

(VOVWORLD) - Qatar's Foreign Minister on Monday called on neighboring states to lift their blockade of Qatar before Doha takes part in any negotiations on ending the Gulf diplomatic crisis.

Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani called measures to isolate Qatar imposed by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain "an act of aggression", adding that lifting them was a "pre-condition" for talks.

Qatar’s demand came as a UAE minister warned that Qatar's diplomatic isolation could last years and no solution is possible if Doha doesn’t stop supporting and funding terrorism.

The same day, Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Hoang said all activities of the Vietnamese community in Qatar are continuing as usual.

He said that the Embassy has been working closely with relevant agencies to outline plans to protect Vietnamese citizens in any event. The Embassy will continue to closely follow developments in Qatar, maintain a taskforce and a hotline, and closely coordinate with Qatar in dealing with any issues that arise that might affect Vietnamese citizens, Hoang added.
