(VOVWORLD) - Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has said Tuesday it will take a “lot of time” to rebuild trust among Gulf countries because of the region’s continuing diplomatic crisis.

Regional relations have been transformed by the dispute, he told reporters in Doha on Tuesday as the conflict between Qatar and the four Arab states led by Saudi Arabia entered its 11th week. "Qatar was one of the founders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and it still has a great importance for all of us in the region," he told reporters.

Created in 1981, the GCC includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Al-Thani said the organization was built on a strategic security and trust. "Unfortunately, with what has happened lately with this crisis, that trust is now missing and will need a lot of time to be rebuilt".
