(VOVworld)- Quang Ninh province will hold a 3-day ceremony to mark the 705th anniversary of the Nirvana attainment of King- Monk Tran Nhan Tong  from December 1st to the 3rd. The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will inaugurate the Statue of King Monk Tran Nhan Tong. This is a great event of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to honor King Monk Tran Nhan Tong’s great contributions. The event is also to salute the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Quang Ninh province. During the event, a workshop on development orientation of Yen Tu relic and ceremonies to enlighten the statue of King Monk Tran Nhan Tong will be held.

Tran Nhan Tong, the 3rd King of the Tran dynasty, was born in 1258 and ascended to the throne at 21. He twice led the army to wipe out foreign invaders. At 41, Tran Nhan Tong abdicated from the throne and became a monk in Yen Tu, founded the TRuc Lam Zen. The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha is cooperating with relevant agencies to submit a profile of King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong to UNESCO for recognition as a Great Man of Culture.
