The Government’s Religious Affairs Committee has held a workshop in Ho Chi Minh City to gather opinions by religious dignitaries on draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution. Most agreed on the need to amend the constitution in line with national socio economic development and international integration. Most Venerable Tue Thong from Ho Chi Minh City’s Buddhist Shangha said the amendment must clarify functions by the legislative, executive and judicial branches. He said amendments should include the State’s providing favorable conditions for religious organizations to operate in compliance with the law as well as their participation in humanitarian activities.
