Mr. Hu said both sides have maintained stable, sound and active relations. According to Mr. Putin,  the two countries enjoy common interests in many fields. The Russian leader said the comprehensive strategic partnership has achieved an “unprecedented high” thanks to the tireless efforts by both, adding that Russia will further deepen the relationship.

The same day, Russia and China inked 12 diplomatic and economic agreements to enhance bilateral trade and an agreement to establish a joint investment fund worth 4 billion USD.

During his three-day stay in China, President Putin is scheduled to meet with Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping, Iranian and Afghan presidents, and attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. This is the first China visit for Mr. Putin since he was back to the Kremlin late May for his third presidential term.
