(VOVworld) – Both Russia and China have stated that they will enhance their strategic partnership. On the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website, Minister Sergei Lavrov wrote on Sunday that the two countries are determined to raise the current two-way trade turnover of 80 billion USD a year to 100 billion dollars by 2015 and 200 billion dollars by 2020. Lavrov said that during his upcoming visit to China from Tuesday, President Vladimir Putin will issue a joint communiqué between Moscow and Beijing to strengthen their strategic partnership and comprehensive relations as well as sign 17 cooperative agreements. President Putin will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao and meet with Prime Minsiter Wen Jiabao to discuss a series of urgent international issues. They include the prospect of Russia and China working together at the UN, the G-20 meeting of developed and emerging economies, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, and the situation on the Korean Peninsula. Following China, President Putin will also attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Beijing this Wednesday.
