IS controls large parts of Deir Ezzor City and most of oil-rich Deir Ezzor province in the east of Syria, and has battled Syrian regime forces to control a key military airbase there.

On Friday, IS terrorists were forced out of the city of Manbij near the Turkish border by a US backed Arab-Kurdish alliance. Syrian government forces are also battling other rebel groups in fierce fight for the country's second largest city of Aleppo during this fortnight.
