Russia, DPRK urged to resume 6-party talks

(VOVworld) – It’s possible to resume six party talks on Pyongyang’s nuclear program, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after talks with North Korea's foreign minister Ri Su Yong on Wednesday. He said both sides agreed that the six-party talks are possible but it will take a certain time. The main condition for these talks to resume is to achieve from all sides a calm, balanced approach and, of course, not allowing any abrupt steps that would only polarize positions," added Lavrov.

North Korea, South Korea, Japan, China, Russia and the United States began talks in 2003 with the aim of ridding the Korean peninsula of nuclear weapons but they were suspended in late 2008 after Pyongyang launched a ballistic missile.
