Russia expands list of sanctions against UK

(VOVWORLD) - Russia on Wednesday expanded its retaliatory sanctions against the UK, adding 23 people to the list, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The list of British citizens who are now banned from entering the Russian Federation include the Chief of the Defense Staff of the British Armed Forces, Tony Radakin, who oversees the training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on British territory, the Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee of the British government, Madeleine Alessandri, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the defense company BAE Systems, Cressida Hogg.

Personal restrictions have also been introduced against employees of British political science centers involved in the collection and analysis of information to fight Russia, such as the Royal United Services Institute, the Henry Jackson Foundation, and Civitas, Institute for the Study of Civil Society.

Expanding the Russian ‘stop list’ in response to the UK's hostile actions will continue, the Ministry said.

In September the US and the UK imposed sanctions on 11 Russians accused of cyberattacks on critical infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
