(VOVWORLD) - A peaceful settlement in Ukraine is possible only if Western allies stop pumping up the Ukrainian military with weapons, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.

He said that Russia continues maintaining the principled stance of a comprehensive, sustainable, and just settlement. Galuzin said the original foundations of Ukraine’s sovereignty – its neutral, non-bloc adherence and non-nuclear status – must be verified in order to reach a settlement.
The Deputy Foreign Minister also noted that Western countries and Ukraine are promoting the so-called peace formula proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky at the G20 summit last November. He said this formula is not related to a peaceful solution but presents an “ultimatum” to Russia.
