Russia mourns flash flood victims

Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday signed a decree declaring a national day of mourning for victims of the devastating flood in the Russia’s southern Krasnoda region. Flags are at half-mast across Russia today, and TV broadcasters and cultural organizations have canceled all entertainment. The worst flash flood ever seen in the Krasnoda region killed at least 150, injured 12 thousand, and caused heavy property losses. Post-disaster recovery efforts are underway.
