“Sac bua” is one of six kinds of folk singing in Ben Tre but nobody knows exactly when it originated and it is in danger of dying out. The singing combines agricultural rituals and religious features to pray for good luck, prosperity, and bumper crops. The genre combines folk singing, dancing, and stage performance.
