Science and Technology makes ASEAN more competitive and integrating

ASEAN countries will further cooperation in digital economy, mass media and social network. Participants at the 14th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology held in HCM city on Saturday also agreed to work more closely on green technology, food and energy security, water resources management, biodiversity for health and prosperity for life. The conference adopted an action program on scientific and technological development in ASEAN until 2017. Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan believed that science and technology are one of the important cooperative areas. He was also confident about the positive changes that science and technology will create for the ASEAN community. “The 14th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology is a special opportunity for the ministers to exchange opinions and identify directions and measures to implement effectively objectives relating to science and technology in the roadmap of the ASEAN community as well as the ASEAN plan of action for the period of 2012 – 2017. The adoption of Krabi Initiative on Science and Technology Innovation will make the ASEAN community more competitive, sustainable and integrating,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
