(VOVworld) – A seminar was held in the central city of Hue on Saturday to review 20 years of preservation and upholding values of world cultural heritage in Vietnam. Participants exchanged experiences in the field and outlined solutions to boost a sustainable preservation of world heritages in Vietnam. Doctor Dang Thi Bich Lien, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, says:

I speak highly of the management, preservation, and upholding of the values of heritages that provinces and cities have made over the years. Many of them have tapped the heritages as the driving force to develop their local economies by either designing local socio-economic development strategies or turning the heritages into targets in economic restructuring plans to generate jobs for the local and increase their income.

To date, UNESCO has recognized Vietnam’s seven world cultural and natural heritage relics, seven intangible cultural heritage and three documentary heritage items under the Global Memory of the World Program, eight World Biosphere Reserves, and one global geological park.
