(VOVworld)- The Republic of Korea has officially offered talks with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea over the reunion of families who were separated during the Korean war between1950 and 1953. A spokesperson for Seoul’s Foreign Ministry Park Soon Jin said in a facsimile message, Seoul proposed to hold a high-level meeting between the two sides’ Red Cross Societies on March 12 in the South’s Administrative building in the Panmunjom demilitarized zone. Mr. Park expressed his hope that Pyongyang would quickly respond to the message. In a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, South Korean President Park Geun-hye asked the Unification Ministry and the Red Cross to start consulting with their DPRK counterparts in the hope of organizing regular reunions, the exchange of letters, video reunions and confirmations of life and death between the families
