South Korea, Japan, US begin joint missile tracking exercise

(VOVWORLD) - South Korea said on Tuesday it began a two-day joint exercise with Japan and the United States to improve their ability to detect and track missiles launched by North Korea.

The exercise in waters off South Korea and Japan, involves four Aegis-equipped ships from the three countries, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff. A similar exercise was first held in June last year. On the sidelines of the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting Plus 3 in the Philippines, Defense Ministers of the three countries promised to make further diplomatic efforts for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
