South Korea suggests way to break deadlock in nuclear negotiations

(VOVWORLD) - The US can help break the deadlock in negotiations with North Korea on denuclearization without lifting the sanctions if Washington allows humanitarian organizations to work in North Korea, suugested a senior South Korean official.

Special Advisor to South Korean President Moon Jae-in for Foreign Affairs and National Security Moon Chung-in said on Monday that many US citizens want to carry out humanitarian activities in North Korea but they are restricted by US government sanctions.

Pyongyang has said it wants the sanctions removed in stages in exchange for gradual denuclearization, but the US says it will lift sanctions only when North Korea is fully de-nuclearized.
