Spring festivals embrace Vietnamese national identity

(VOVworld)- The Yen Tu Spring festival opened on Monday in Quang Ninh province. The festival features ritual ceremonies, folk games, and local ethnic groups’ cuisine. With a complex of pagodas, temples and towers, Yen Tu is considered the cradle of Vietnamese Buddhism.

On the same day, a wresting festival took place in Sinh village, Thua Thien Hue province. The festival has been held in the village annually for past 400 years.  
“We organize the traditional wresting festival to pray for peace, bumper crops, and prosperity. There is no qualifying rounds. Anyone could challenge other competitors”, said Nguyen Van Hue, a member of the village’s chief council.
