(VOVWORLD) -Syria announced during United Nations climate talks in Bonn on Tuesday that it will sign the Paris agreement on climate change to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

A Syrian delegate emphasized that the international community needs to work together for this goal, calling on the US to join the agreement.
According to a spokesperson for the UN Secretariat on Climate Change, Syria has not yet submitted any documents concerning its plan. The scientific community hailed Syria’s decision.
The move leaves the US as the only country that has rejected the global pact.
