(VOVWORLD) -The National Assembly Committee on Science, Technology, and Environment on Wednesday discussed a report on budget spending on science and technology this year and a budget plan for 2018.

The deputies said the budget for science and technology has been below actual needs. Between 2011 and 2015, spending for science and technology accounted for 1.54% of the national budget. The deputies asked the Finance Ministry to allocate more than 2% of the national budget for science and technology.
