He told reporters in Bangkok that the Thai Government will carry out political and economic reforms before a general election will be held in 2017.

The draft constitution, announced by the Thai Constitution Drafting Committee in March, is expected to be a solution to the political crisis Thailand has been facing for over a decade.

A referendum on the 105-page document with 279 articles will be held on August 7. If it is approved, the general election will take place next July as pledged by the Prime Minister.
