During the visit, he will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss closer cooperation during Thailand's ASEAN Chairmanship and Germany's tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council next year. Thailand and Germany will explore opportunities to expand development cooperation under trilateral and ASEAN frameworks. Germany is the only ASEAN Development Partner. Thailand will also invite Germany to become a development partner of the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), with a view to helping Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam (CLMV) attain their UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Prime Minister Chan-o-cha will attend a Thailand-German business forum, meet German CEOs in railway and next-generation automotive industries, and visit a German research institute.
