The NA Standing Committee convenes its 13th session

(VOVworld)-The National Assembly’s Standing Committee opened its 13th meeting in Hanoi on Thursday. Addressing the opening session, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said that at this meeting, the committee will assess results of the legislative body’s 4th session and give preliminary opinions about preparations for the 5th session.

The committee will discuss and approve programmes on external activities and international cooperation next year for the NA’s committees and agencies as well as a working programme for the standing committee next year. Delegates will give opinions on the draft amendments (second time) to the 1992 Constitution and the plan to collect suggestions from people about the draft amendments is another important issue of the meeting. Regarding the work of law building, the standing committee will give opinions on several bills including the land law. Two national target programmes relating to climate change and environmental pollution issues will also be discussed at the meeting. Chairwoman of the National Assembly Committee on Social Affairs, Truong Thi Mai, said recent meetings with voters showed their appreciation of renovation at the 4th session: “The government for the first time submitted a report on the implementation of resolutions which had been issued during the previous National Assembly session. The 4th National Assembly session was the first to issue a resolution on judicial reform, which enabled more in-depth discussion on the issue. More than a dozen of sessions were broadcast live on radio and TV to facilitate voters’ participation and comments. “
