(VOVworld)- HCM City’s Center for Trade Promotion and Investment held a seminar titled “Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) - Opportunities for enterprises” in HCM City on Wednesday. The attendees said participating in TPP, Vietnamese enterprises have more opportunities to approach the markets and increase exports, especially exports of garment, textiles, seafood, footwear and timber products to the US. In addition, the agreement enables Vietnamese enterprises to take best advantages of opportunities created by the restructuring process as well as the trend of regional economic connectivity. It also contributes to raising Vietnam’s position in the international arena and strengthening Vietnam’s relations with international partners. The seminar said the agreement poses pressures on opening the market but increasing Vietnamese enterprises’ competitiveness. Le Thanh An, the US General Consul in HCM City says the TPP brings to participating countries advantages in tariffs, international competitiveness and investment attraction. The US pledge to continue exchanging information with Vietnam and enhancing the negotiation of the TPP.
