Traffic safety year 2020 launched in Hanoi

(VOVWORLD) - The National Committee for Traffic Safety in collaboration with the Hanoi People’s Committee organised a ceremony in Hanoi on Saturday to kick off the year of traffic safety.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said this traffic safety year will have the theme on “No drinking and driving” with a goal of reducing up to 10% of traffic cases as well as number of casualties. He urged related agencies to carry out more communication and education campaigns to ensure traffic safety ahead, during and after the Lunar New Year, focusing on the Law on Preventing Alcohol's Harmful Effect, which will take effect on January 1st. He also called for speeding up works on upgrading or maintenance of traffic infrastructure to ensure smooth traffic for people to welcome the new lunar year and attend spring festivals.
