(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Turkey “have comparative advantages to do fruitful things together”, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said in an interview with the Vietnam News Agency during his visit to Vietnam this week.

Mr. Yildirim said increasing bilateral trade now less than 2 billion USD to 4 billion USD by 2020 is a feasible target. But to achieve this goal both sides should increase investment and trade promotion programs and avoid double taxation.
He said daily flights from Istanbul to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have facilitated travel between Vietnam and Turkey and recommended that investors from Turkey cooperate with Vietnam in infrastructure, tourism, renewable energy, tourism, textiles, mining, education, and ship-building.
Talking about the importance of Vietnam in Turkey’s foreign policy, he said the two countries are working together in various areas.
He said Turkey supports Vietnam’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in 2020-2021, and asked Vietnam to back Turkey’s effort to become a member of UNESCO'S executive board for 2017 – 2021.
