Website digitalnewsasia.com of Malaysia on Wednesday cited findings by consulting firm Oxford Economics commissioned by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), which gave assessment of economic dynamics in Southeast Asia, including a positive assessment of the Vietnamese economy in 2023 and a positive outlook in the medium term. "Vietnam: A soft 2024, but a bright medium-term outlook", it said.

The UK consulting firm said Vietnam has been a regional export outperformer this year, delivering GDP growth of 5.3% YoY in Q3, up from 4.1% in Q2. This was led by a strong recovery in the manufacturing sector thanks to rising export values amidst improvements in electronics exports, especially to China.

Carrying on from the government’s increased public investment in Q3, there is still room to boost investment spending in the next quarter, said Oxford Economics.
