(VOVworld) – British Brexit Secretary David Davis met with
the European Commission's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier on Monday, the first talk which, the UK hopes, will help it approach negotiations in a spirit of goodwill.

Davis will also hold talks in Brussels and Strasbourg, France, during the week. The Secretary said these talks are not intended to open negotiations but to prepare for an orderly EU exit.
EU leaders have, so far, rejected any official Brexit negotiations until March, 2017, when the UK will kick off Article 50 of the Lisbon treaty, which officially takes it out of the EU.
