(VOVWORLD) - United Nations envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame has called for a truce during the upcoming Eid al-Adha religious holiday (August 10), saying the fighting in that country needs to end before it grows into a full-blown civil war.

In his briefing at the UN Security Council on Monday, Salame called for a high-level meeting with stakeholders in Libya to discuss further moves.
