(VOVworld)- During his ongoing visit to Vietnam, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Saturday. After the talks, the two leaders attended the inauguration ceremony of the Green One UN House in Vietnam, the first of its kind in the world.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said Vietnam proactively contributed to UN activities in various fields and successfully fulfilled its tasks as a Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council in the 2008-2009 term and a member of the UN Human Rights Council in the 2014-2016 term. Addressing the inauguration of the Green One UN House in Vietnam, Mr. Minh said:“I'm confident that the Green One UN House withstand as a vivid symbol of Vietnam-UN cooperation, a home, a way home for all UN agencies. It's also my hope and belief that the house will become the center for knowledge and cooperation, inspiration and action. All in support of sustainable development of Vietnam in the interests of each and every Vietnamese"

The UN Chief praised Vietnam’s role as one of 8 countries supporting the idea of gathering all UN agencies in one building to cut down time and costs of administrative procedures. Mr. Ban praised the importance of the event when the UN is preparing its post 2015 agenda and mapping out a new agreement on climate change response: "In Hanoi, you are showing what is possible. You are proving through actions that being climate friendly is good for economics and a good policy. The Green One UN House will help us deliver as one. In Vietnam, the Green One UN House shows that we are serious about sustainability. I thank all of you here in Vietnam for showing the way. Thank you for helping us deliver as one and deliver green so that we can deliver for the people of Vietnam and for the people of the world"

The same day, the UN Chief discussed with students of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and young diplomats about the UN and its role in Asia. In the afternoon, Mr. Ban attended the 1^st anniversary of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Center and met with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
