An unnamed US official said on Monday that the new resolution would slash the DPRK’s coal-export revenue by 60%, equivalent to 700 million USD. Fresh sanctions will restrict Pyongyang’s access to hard currency which it may use for the production of ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons. All 5 permanent members of the Council agreed to the new punishment.
