UNICEF warns of illiteracy in unstable countries

(VOVWORLD) - UNICEF said Wednesday that in countries suffering from disasters and conflicts, 3 out of 10 young people 15 to 24 years old, are illiterate.

A UNESCO report said that Nigeria, Chad, South Sudan, and Central Africa have the worst literacy rates.

UNICEF has called for more educational investment in unstable countries, particularly during humanitarian crises. The organization said that for the next 4 years, it will spend 1 billion USD a year for educational programs.
