US accuses Houthi of continued attacks on commercial ships in Red Sea

(VOVWORLD) - US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Wednesday that Houthi forces in Yemen fired two ballistic missiles at commercial ships crossing the Red Sea near bab el-Mandeb channel.

No ships reported loss of life. CENTCOM said the illegal actions have endangered the lives of dozens of sailors and continue to impede the free flow of international trade. There have been 24 attacks on commercial ships in the region since November 19, 2023.

Prior to that the UK Maritime Trade Authority (UKMTO) reported explosions near a cargo ship traveling between the coasts of Eritrea and Yemen but didn’t provide details about there was any harm to the ship or its crew. 
On Wednesday the UN Security Council convened a meeting on the Houthi’s attacks in the Red Sea.
