US mulls possible return to TPP
(VOVWORLD) - US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has said the Trump government is discussing the possible return to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, with a condition of re-negotiations for more beneficial terms.
Citing President Donald Trump’s speech at the 2018 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Mnuchin said that Trump’s priorities are bilateral agreements, but the president is considering multi-lateral deals. Mnuchin made the statement during a Congress session on Thursday. Following the US's withdrawal from the TPP, the 11 remaining signatories changed the name of the pact into the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
