US rejects allegation of being behind Venezuela coup

(VOVworld) – The United States has rejected allegations that its envoy aided coup plots against the Venezuelan government. State Department spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki said at a daily news briefing on Thursday that the allegations were absolutely false and baseless, in response to accusations that the US Ambassador to Colombia, Kevin Whitaker, had supported Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado to incite violence to topple the Venezuelan government.
