US rejects invitation to visit Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

(VOVworld) – The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Sunday the United States had rejected an invitation to send one of its top diplomats to Pyongyang, accusing Washington of trying to shift the blame for the deadlock in talks on denuclearizing the Korean peninsula.

The DPRK’s KCNA news agency quoted a Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying that Pyongyang invited Sung Kim to visit Pyongyang as he had expressed a willingness to meet with his counterpart in the DPRK during his visit to Asia, but that the US, ignoring this, is trying to shift blame onto the DPRK, misleading public opinion by creating the impression that dialogue has broken down due to the latter’s insincerity.
