(VOVworld) - US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have agreed to extend the ceasefire in Syria for another 48 hours to facilitate humanitarian assistance.

At Wednesday’s press conference, US State Department spokesman Mark Toner said there is overall compliance, despite reports of sporadic violence. The arrangement is holding, and violence is significantly lower, he said. 

The Russian Foreign Ministry said they have asked the US to  clearly distinguish between moderate opposition forces in Syria, sponsored by Washington, and the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham group, formerly known as the al Nusra Front.
